The 4-star Hotel Beethoven lies ensconced in culture and cuisine on the “bohemian“ Naschmarkt, opposite the Papagenotor at Theater an der Wien, just a few minutes’ walk from the Opera, the Musikverein, the Museumsquartier, the most traditional Viennese coffeehouses and shopping streets.

Beethoven's chamber music concert

Music belongs to Vienna, as music belongs to Beethoven. We love this tradition and organize concerts every weekend with chamber music at the highest level, emphasising, how could it be otherwise, the Viennese classic. Michael Babytsch on cello and Pavlo Kachnov on the piano are highly talented musicians who present works from Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven or other famous musicians. During the intermission a free glass of champagne is being served. By the way, the Bösendorfer grand piano was owned by Mrs Ludwig`s mother Sissy, who was a great pianist.
Look forward to a relaxed, intimate evening. All hotel guests are welcome.

Quiz night at the Beethoven

Quiz Night at the Beethoven!

For many years, it is has been an indispensable part of the nightlife in England and in pubs around the world: The Pub Quiz!

In October 2014, Hotel Beethoven launched the first Pub Quiz of its kind in Vienna. Every 2nd Tuesday of the month, the "Quiz im Beethoven" takes place on the Mezzanine level of the hotel.

Guests join together in teams (4-7 people) and answer 20 challenging questions from all areas of knowledge. (German & English)

The entry fee is 6€ per person and goes into the jackpot. The winning team receives a bottle of champagne, and the team that answers all 20 questions correctly, hits the jackpot!

The evening promises to have incredibly tough and humorous questions.

During the Quiz, culinary delights and drinks are served a la carte from our Bistro.

To join us, please register at the reception. You can also register individually or as a couple, or send us an e-mail to quiz@hotelbeethoven.at.

We look forward to a fun evening with you!

4-star hotel situated on Vienna’s Naschmarkt

The location of the Hotel on the Naschmarkt lets Vienna aficionados dive right into the typical Viennese lifestyle. The market, with its dozens of little stalls and selection of fresh fruit, vegetables and specialities, is a colourful and lively snapshot of Vienna, which is even more varied on Saturdays, with the farmer’s and flea market. In addition to the restaurants and cafés around the Naschmarkt, a trendy restaurant and bar scene has developed in the market area.

Coupled to culture

The culturally committed Ludwig family, which owns the hotel, sponsors numerous Viennese cultural institutions, such as the Albertina, the Mumok and the Musikverein and inspires Vienna aficionados  to special cultural delights: invitations to previews, exhibition openings, museum visits and preferential ticket orders at the Musikverein.

In a quiet location near the Vienna Secession

The Beethoven is an elegant, 6-storey, historic building, which was constructed in the Neorenaissance style in 1902 on the traffic-calmed Papagenogasse. Vienna aficionados are in good hands in the calming, tastefully furnished hotel rooms, amidst the pulsating life of Vienna’s cultural and culinary heart.

Interview Barbara Ludwig

Which room is your favorite?

The "Bertha Zuckerkandl room", a free spirited woman with a big heart.

This room is on the floor featuring strong women at the turn of the century. Because of their similar character - compassionate and at times impulsive, it also reminds me of my mother.  Anecdotes exist for both women--their joy of life, spontaneity and their unconstitutional approach.

Keith Haring. The Alphabet - ALBERTINA

The ALBERTINA Museum is devoting a sweeping exhibition to Keith Haring (1958–1990), who would have celebrated his 60th birthday in 2018. This presentation is intended to shed light on the output of this exceptional American artist from perspectives both art-historical and formal. A special focus will be on the one-of-a-kind symbolic language that is present throughout Haring’s oeuvre as an artistic alphabet of sorts. The artist’s subway works and other drawings, as well as his paintings and sculptures, are devoted to themes of social justice and constant transformation. The appeal of Haring’s oeuvre remains unbroken to this day, and his influence on his contemporaries and younger generations of artists has been enormous.

On view from 16 March until 24 June 2018.
