With “Animalia. Of Animals and Humans”, the Heidi Horten Collection invites visitors to an engaging encounter between art, nature, and our own way of looking at the world. The exhibition brings together around 90 works from the 20th and 21st centuries. They reveal the many meanings carried in depictions of animals: closeness, projection, care, power, and the question of how we as humans relate to other living beings.

Between affection and hierarchy, anthropomorphism and exploitation, “Animalia. Of Animals and Humans” opens up an intelligent and multi layered view of the relationship between humans and animals. The exhibition becomes a thought provoking journey through our self understanding and the question of what a shared life as fellow creatures might look like.

An inspiring excursion for all art lovers, just a seven minute walk from Hotel Beethoven.
Exhibition dates: 27 March to 30 August 2026
