Elisabeth von Samsonow at the Heidi Horten Collection

A boutique museum we love to recommend as a boutique hotel

As a boutique hotel, we have a soft spot for places with a clear signature. The Heidi Horten Collection is exactly that, small, beautifully curated, and truly special. Right now, it presents a major solo show by Elisabeth von Samsonow, where early works meet recent groups of pieces. Sculptures, painting, drawings, films, and a site specific installation guide you through a dense, story rich parcours.

At the centre is an engagement with the earth as a carrier of history, energy, and collective memory. Samsonow draws on motifs from cultural history and mythology and translates them into a contemporary visual language. Especially striking are works around the Gaia myth, as well as wooden sculptures made from entire trunks, including pieces carved from a thousand year old linden tree that make time and growth feel tangible.

If you are in the mood for a museum with real character, this boutique house is a wonderful choice. From Hotel Beethoven Vienna, it fits perfectly into a relaxed art afternoon.
