The Line as Expression

Just as sound is essential to music, the line is fundamental to visual art. The new exhibition “Die Linie | The Line” at the Heidi Horten Collection reveals the expressive power of a simple line – joyful, serious, playful or bold, it tells stories, defines shapes and brings movement to the page.
Starting from classical drawing, the show presents works from modernism to the present – including contemporary pieces that expand the line into space and highlight social themes.
