In 2025, the Leopold Museum presents a major monographic exhibition dedicated to the final years of Egon Schiele’s career – a period marked by personal and artistic transformation. Between 1914 and 1918, Schiele’s radical experimentation gave way to a more realistic and empathetic style, with softer lines and fuller figures.

This exhibition interweaves Schiele’s artworks with biographical documents, offering new insights through previously unpublished materials – including the diary of his wife, Edith Schiele.

Divided into nine thematic sections, the exhibition brings together around 130 works from Austrian and international collections. Highlights include the large-scale portrait of Albert Paris von Gütersloh from 1918 and four previously unknown works on paper, exhibited for the first time.

Located just a few minutes’ walk from Hotel Beethoven, this exhibition offers a fascinating new look at Egon Schiele – the perfect cultural highlight for your stay in Vienna.
